My students need opportunities to move in the classroom without leaving their learning area through the use of a Wobble chair, Wobble cushion, and pedal bike.
My fourth grade students come from a high poverty and low income area. Although many come to school with hardships of low socioeconomic status, they are eager to strive in their learning.
In my classroom, we focus on being safe to make mistakes during learning, having integrity when interacting with others, and having a positive learning experience.
My students are enthusiastic and a full of life group who are willing and excited to learn new information and share their knowledge. The enthusiasm shown in learning is evident through cooperative learning projects which vary between teacher and student developed topics.
Because fourth graders enjoy the chance to move, our classroom allows for students to do just that. To get the wiggles out, students can use a small trampoline throughout instruction or use an exercise band, stress ball, or back scratcher when taking a time out. This allows them to feel safe while thinking about how to correct their behavior in the classroom.
My Project
Not all students are able to sit still when learning in the classroom. Often times they need some sort of movement to allow them to continue focusing on their learning goals. Students will find excitement in being able to choose a Wobble chair, Wobble cushion, or pedal bike for their desk if that is the best fit for their needs.
Giving students choices in how active they are during learning will allow them to be more engaged and allow them to have the freedom to get their wiggles out all while still focusing on instruction.
Differentiated seating is an exciting choice for students.
