My 4th grade class has 20 students. I love that they are a culturally diverse group, and that we have a wide range of learning abilities and learning styles in our room.
There are many things that I love about my students!
I appreciate their energy, their need to move as they learn, and their willingness to cooperate together on projects. I value that they are respectful to each other and to me. I love their enthusiasm, or the sheer joy they take in learning new concepts. I especially appreciate their willingness to help others. Each year, I notice that I have more and more students who have ADHD and really struggle with sitting still all day in hard chairs. This year is no exception. My class really seems to excel when given the chance to freely move about the room or work in non-traditional seating.
My Project
Giving my students the daily choice to sit on a KORE wobble stool instead of a chair will allow them to quietly move without disrupting other students at their table. This freedom of movement is proven to especially help children with ADHD and those with focusing issues, but it also helps the typical learner with or without attention issues. I have already noticed a huge reduction in discipline issues when I allow my ADD students a chance to use the only wobble stool I presently have in my classroom. I would love to provide enough KORE wobble stools that they could share these and use them daily.
