Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Our classroom has a daily Montessori work cycle. The work cycle can last any where from two to three hours. Our students work hard and have choices of many academic activities. However, we do not have a movement area in our classroom. Children learn better with movement. Movement helps them to refocus and move on to other academic tasks. This gives them a brain break. Research supports that children need movement to learn. Movement helps our special needs students that have sensory issues. These activities provide much need sensory input.
