Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My fabulous Title I school is located in a suburb of Houston. My school has a population of around 1050 students, and I get to see all of those students in my large group music class.
The students in our school work hard every day to overcome their life circumstances.
Many of our kids live in highly changing and mobile family situations. For many, school is the only stable environment in their lives.
Despite these socioeconomic disadvantages, our school and our students are thriving, growing, learning and becoming the best we can be.
My Project
My students need movement props to help supplement materials in our music classroom. These materials will help Kinder through 5th grade students explore movement and form in music.
Music learning is great when it is hands-on and exploratory.
These bean bags, ribbon wands, parachute, and scarves will help make learning interactive by putting a visual in the hands of the students.
Help my students explore and create visual representations of the music they will hear in class. While music can be an abstract concept, it is so much easier to understand when you can add physical and visual components. This applied learning will in turn help my students to thrive and learn.
