Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The majority of my students are English language learners. They come from families who speak primarily Spanish and very little English. Their families are very hard-working and provide what they can for their children. They are the sweetest, fun, loving group of kids. They come to school with smiles every day ready to learn and take it all in.
My Project
The equipment I would like for the 3rd grade students will promote movement, team-building skills, oral communication, as well as fine and gross motor skills.
I teach in a 50/50 dual immersion setting and three-quarters of my students are from low-income households.
The equipment will provide them with an opportunity most of them will not have outside of the school setting.
Little do the students know that physical activity also reduces stress and anxiety, boosts self-esteem and confidence, and develops lifelong healthy behavior habits. It also helps academic performance in reading comprehension and improves their focus in the classroom.
