My Students
My fourth grade students are energetic, kind and enthusiastic about learning. They work well independently, in small groups, and with partners. Each day they put their best foot forward to become successful learners. At this age they are naturally full of wiggles and worms. They need to move to stay engaged and focused. I have given them opportunities to move to learn, and I know adding more variety to their seating will help them be the best they can be. I look forward to working with them each day, and it’s exciting to watch them grow.
My Project
Have you ever tried to sit and listen to someone when you are antsy and full of energy? I know that I have, and it is really difficult. I don’t want my students to use wasted energy trying to stay focused while learning. With flexible seating, students can discretely move in their seat while working with a teacher, independently, or in small groups. This small movement will allow them to direct their energy towards their learning rather than their fidgeting. One example of this type of seating is a Wobble Chair. It looks like a typical stool but gently moves so students can move their minds!
