My Students
Curious. Inquisitive. Bright. Creative. Determined. As a Resource Room teacher, I'm privileged to work with kids in grades K-3 who like all kids, are naturally curious and are in a continual state of growth. In the words of a very wise 7 year old, "You gotta have grit." My kids all have hurdles to overcome. Grit is a necessity for them. It's not an easy path.They have learned. They are learning. They will learn. They are learners in every sense of the word.
My Project
My kids need to move. Need. Not want. Need. Sometimes learning is facilitated by standing; sometimes sitting, almost always with a bit of wiggling! Flexible seating, such as the requested balance balls and comfy floor seats, allows for the opportunity for increased focus and for kids to self soothe. Help my kids meet their individual needs through the use of flexible seating opportunities. Let's not forget that this also provides an opportunity for choice and control in their environment. My kids need these opportunities. It's not a want ...it's a need. I want them to have access to what they need. I know I certainly benefit from flexible seating opportunities, don't you?
