Help me give my students a standing desk, pedal exercisers and noise cancelling headphones to create the learning environment that they can succeed in.
My students are energetic, social, and have a strong desire for justice. They have been together as a cohort for several years and can treat each other like brothers and sisters do. They love to feel successful, and they often burst out with a desire to share their thoughts. As 5th graders, they are becoming more aware of social status/dynamics and their own sense of self can begin to change as they see themselves compared to others. These students, like all students, need support, encouragement and tools to help them continue to be challenged and successful.
My Project
I have twenty four 5th graders, most of which are historically under served. They have lots of need for movement and a strong desire to share out whenever they are inspired. Most importantly, they have huge potential for making gains in the right environment.
A standing desk, a few exercise pedals for under the desk and noise cancelling head phones for everyone will change the learning game for us!
Kids that have a hard time sitting can pedal or take turns at the standing desk, and during individual work time the noise cancelling head phones will minimize the noisy distractions and give my students a quiet environment to focus on their work.
