I work with amazing students. They are excited about music. I know this year will be exciting for them. My school is a Title 1 school. We have a little over 300 students from all kinds of ethnic backgrounds. Our population is primarily Hispanic and Marshalise. We are considered to be a 100% free and reduced-priced lunch school. We have a number of students who do not speak English.
Despite the poverty level or even the language barriers, these kids are so talented and have an eagerness to learn new things.
I have some exciting programs that will encourage the students to have fun and create beautiful music.
My Project
I am asking for Orff instruments so that we can move, play and create. Playing instruments keeps the students engaged in music. I plan on using the instruments to encourage the students to express themselves and create wonderful melodies. We have some Orff instruments, but I would like to add more instruments so that more children will have an opportunity to play at one time.
Playing instruments creates joy, excitement, and a love for music.
I will be using many resources such as Mallet Madness and Orff books to teach the kids to play on the Orff instruments. My favorite resource is Mallet Madness. It has many different activities that encourage movement, reading music and creativity. It also has activities that have students playing along to various children’s books.
