My students need books and reading materials because The Move On When Reading law indicates the students have to score above the minimal proficient score on the state test.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have twenty-nine especially awesome third graders. My students are so excited about being in such an important grade level. We live in the high poverty area in a small border town and most students qualify for free or reduced price lunch.
My classroom is blessed to have a great variety of students.
Among my awesome students, I have some English Language Learners who have been working above and beyond to be proficient in English. I also have some special education and gifted/exceptional students who offer my classroom excitement and novelty each day.
My Project
These materials will make a difference in my students’ education because the students will have an opportunity to have a book in their hands which they will be interested in. These books will be tailored to their lives and their ability levels. The books that I provide to my students are sometime the only reading materials the students are able to have. Limited resources in our school and our community hinder the students in reading material they have access to.
The books that we currently have in our library are outdated and in very bad condition.
The majority of these books have been handed down from other teachers. My students will be very excited to read these new chapter and nonfiction books.
