My Students

First grade is my favorite place to be. I get to spend each day with 24 children. My classroom is a place where every child is welcome. I focus on the individual strengths and weaknesses to ensure that each child is able to progress and thrive not only academically but also socially. I want to instill not only a love of learning but a confidence where each child knows he/she can do hard things. My class consists of children who qualify for free/reduced lunch, student who receive varied special education services and English Language Learners.

My Project

Covid-19 has changed the lives of everyone- especially the children. Some of my students did not attend Kindergarten in a school but at home or remote. Many students have stayed in the home while their parents have been working or at work. This has shortened their attention spans and weakened muscles. These Flex-Space Balance Ball seats will help transition students and develop muscles.

In addition, some of my students did not attend Kindergarten in a school but at home or remote.

Because of this, many of my students have gaps in their phonemic awareness because they lack experience with developmentally appropriate learning activities. These phonemic awareness resources will help fill gaps. As well as the Story Teller Lego set will help to motivate conversation.
