My Students

The Lincoln Mtn Bike Club is a middle school and high school co-ed program focused on mountain bike skills, competition, trail maintenance and advocacy, and fostering appreciation of the outdoors. The school district is in a high poverty area, which often creates a financial barrier for interested youth to participate in our activities. With 71% of the district eligible for free and reduced lunches and 39% of families with school-aged children below the poverty line (twice that of the national average), we struggle to maintain our program with minimal impact on the families.

Our mission is the positive development and mentoring of young men and women through mountain biking with a focus on health, fitness, leadership, teamwork, and community.

All students from 6th through 12th grade, boy or girl, are welcome. We strive to be an inclusive and accessible team, providing scholarships, loaner safety equipment, bikes, and overnight camping gear to riders in need.

My Project

The Lincoln Mountain Wolves Mountain Bike Team and Club are preparing for 2018 support for our program. We wrapped up our first season of competition and have quickly outgrown our resources. Our participants spend many long hours preparing to be the best they can be and are very deserving of your support. We appreciate any amount you can give and thank you in advance for your generous support!

We are excited to see our hard work pay off and look forward to getting more kids on bikes!

This season we were able to come up with resources to grow from three riders to six in just a few weeks. This coming season we expect the number to double again! With this growth and in order to ensure kids are safe and bikes are ready to ride, our program needs riding gloves, hydration packs, a trail first aid kit, tires, and repair tools. These resources will be used to teach kids how to repair and properly and safely maintain a bike, as well as teaching the importance of proper hydration and safety equipment.

Our program is organized around two groups, a team and a club. The TEAM is focused on the competitive sport of mountain biking. The CLUB is more focused on essential mountain biking skills, casual participation in trail rides, supporting the team, camaraderie, health, and fitness.

Both the team and club are co-ed groups – both boys and girls are welcome to join. Girls are highly encouraged to join and are an integral part of the racing league. Riders in 6th – 12th grade are all welcome. The team competes in the Arkansas Interscholastic Cycling League, a project of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association.
