I teach 20 enthusiastic children at a Title 1 School in South Carolina. Out of my 20 students, 11 students qualify for free meals. Our school even provides meals over the weekend for some students to ensure that they eat over the weekend. Despite their circumstances, my students enter the classroom with a greeting of "Good morning," and smiles.
I would like to create a classroom environment that is fun and rich in literacy.
I want my students to explore the world through literacy. Research shows that children who are literate will most likely go to college, be able to provide for themselves as an adult, and have/raise children that are literate. These children are our future and I want to prepare them for it.
Motor skills are a very important skill that must be developed in kids. In kindergarten, we try to fine tune those skills through writing, play, and other hands on activities. Play is a very big part of early childhood learning, therefore, we incorporate learning through play.
By donating to this project, you will not only help children have fun at school, but you will also help them develop the skills they need to be successful in life.
With the materials, the students will engage in activities that will help them practice literacy skills and motor skills at the same time.
