My Students

We learn by doing, right? Of course we do! We also learn by experience and when we are having fun!

I have the pleasure of teaching nineteen eager to learn kindergarten students.

We are a energetic, carefree, and smart bunch. Inquiring minds should know that we absolutely love to learn and we learn the best through hands-on learning experiences. My students and I represent Haynes Elementary, the HAPPY PLACE!

My Project

Meaningful and authentic learning experiences help us to learn. With the emphasis of building a strong foundation of number sense we plan to use balance scales in a number of ways. One way we will build number sense is by working in small cooperative learning groups to compare real-life objects. Secondly, we will also build our math vocabulary through verbal and written expression (e.g., more than, less than, heavier, lighter). Lastly, we will learn to represent and model math thinking through visual illustrations (e.g.,record data, share data, represent data).

We are a deserving bunch that would love to develop our mathematical thinking through hands-on learning.

Balance scales are a wonderful math tool that will turn our classroom into a mad math lab and I can't wait! Your donation will support meaningful learning experiences and a passionate kindergarten teacher!
