My Students

Hello. My students are the BEST! They are part of a Cluster Program in grades 6-8. Many of my students fall on the Autism Spectrum and choose on a daily basis to show up every day, give it their best shot, and overcome their challenges.

We are hoping to incorporate more variety in our class in regard to seating, sensory activities, and classroom supplies like headphones.

In a classroom with diverse learners, having a choice of activities to choose from is necessary, as students have different needs and their need can change several times throughout the day.

My Project

All of the items I've chosen are ones that can be added to our classroom environment to address the needs of my students. The headphones will be used in class for students to complete differentiated assignments online. The standing desks allow students to work and move at the same time, instead of sitting in a traditional desk. Since we like to move around quite a bit here, the option of having alternative seating will allow students to move and stay seated without interrupting the classroom or being a distraction to classmates. The Oculus Virtual Reality set will help us to incorporate STEM into the class, motivate students to learn, and is known to help improve communication skills among students with autism, and hearing issues.
