Help me give my students more hands-on activities to help them develop their math skills. Also, help me give my students the resources to promote proper finger placement.
I teach Pre-K at an Early Childhood School in Texas. My class is a blended class, consisting of at-risk students based on income, English as a second language, or they have special needs. My students are faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the challenges they face, I am looking to provide students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
My students are creative, energetic, and always ready to experience something new!
They love to move, read, and learn! Many of them are being raised in single-parent households, and all of my students receive a free breakfast/lunch based on their socioeconomic status. These things may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the life experiences many of us see as "typical." From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on their potential growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. My goal is to inspire even our earliest students to become lifelong learners!
My Project
Many of my students have made excellent strides in their math skills and have mastered what was asked of them in the pre-k curriculum. The Early Math Instant Learning Centers, will allow my students to have other resources to help enrich their math skills. The hands-on activities will encourage their thinking skills and allow them to challenge their learning. It will also assist them in developing skills in shapes, patterning, counting, measurement, comparing numbers, making ten, simple addition and simple subtraction.

This will aide my students who have a difficult time holding the pencil correctly, to facilitate developmental writing.
