My Students

I am one lucky teacher to work with a classroom of preschool students on the autism spectrum. I have been given the challenge and wonderful opportunity to teach my students how to communicate effectively, play cooperatively together, and how to express their emotions appropriately with replacement behaviors. My students learn through music, dramatic play, sensory integration, and hands-on activities. My students love our classroom pets, art, blocks, games, puzzles, and physical activities. I want to give my students every opportunity possible to meet their individualized needs to communicate, socialize, and behave appropriately in a safe, fun, loving environment.

My Project

This iPad will be used throughout the day for many activities in the classroom. I plan to incorporate music and dance, transitions, and communication. This iPad will be easy to access and carry around the school campus. My students love music and movement for learning and it is a necessity in my classroom. Having an iPad with all their music will be so much easier to access than all my CD’s. This iPad will also carry a picture communication system for my non-verbal students to assist in their communication by providing them visual support to communicate their needs and wants.
