My students need flexible seating options that help keep their minds focused and alert while increasing oxygen flow to the brain and blood flow to the core.

The students at our small Topeka school are highly motivated, amazing kiddos that should be celebrated!
They work hard, play hard- and I believe they are most deserving of something special to look forward to when they walk through the doors in August. Our students have worked hard to win the National School of Character award and I feel like it is time to give something back!
Our students are dedicated to making our school a safer, friendlier environment that invites people of all ages to become educated, inspired and empowered citizens.
My Project
Flexible seating offers many benefits to the ever-changing classroom. Students have a directed choice, there is an increase in physical health and an increased sense of community and collaboration. Each table in my classroom will have a different seating option, allowing students to choose how they are most comfortable while learning.
My hope is that the room will become “ours” instead of “mine,” and will give my students a sense of ownership and enabled them to become invested in their own education.
The lap desks, balance disks, and tall stools will help to create a more active, engaged, enthusiastic and relaxed room for students to look forward to coming to every day. The drawer towers will be essential for students to house their supplies in the non-traditional classroom setting.
Students learn better when they have opportunities to learn together. I want to create an environment that invites students to collaborate and communicate effectively with one another.
