Help me give my students Legos, fidgets, flexible seating, and drum instruments to inspire learning and greater focus through learning and exploration.
My 22 first graders are adventurous students who come to school each day excited to learn. I have a lot of students this year with unique sensory needs, some diagnosed with ADHD, and students on various differentiated learning levels. One of my students is student with limited English and language skills.
My first graders love movement, music, and benefit from a variety of auditory, visual, and kinesthetic learning opportunities to help them focus and work together.
They have an enthusiasm for life that I am excited to help channel into productive, creative pathways for learning.
My Project
Many of my students this year are kinesthetic learners who need many opportunities to move and manipulate in order to learn. They are able to focus better when music is playing, and when they are allowed to quietly fidget or move when listening and working.
With the fidgets, Legos, drums, and flexible seating options provided with this grant, my students will have multiple options
for kinesthetic learning to take place. There will be a variety of tools at students' disposal for them to use to help them focus. We will be able to explore together different movements and music to help us integrate learning with rhythm and motion.
I know that the math materials and Wikki Stix resources will also help my students with sensory needs and language processing disorders work on basic letter and math facts. Our class is very grateful for your consideration for our project.
