Help me give my students the materials (dry erase clipboards, magnetic tiles, and snap cubes) they will need to explore and experience stations with morning tubs and STEM activities throughout the day!
I have not met my students yet for this upcoming year, however like all first graders they will be curious, adventurous, and energetic. I am excited to ignite the love of learning in them and show my first graders the importance of being life-long learners while being actively engaged in our classroom.
My students will have lots of time dedicated to being able to experience and explore things for themselves during reading and math stations as well as STEM activities while sitting around the room.
Their workday will consist of individual, pair, and group activities.
Many of them come from low-income households. This will not hold them back from being the best they can be in our classroom and know that they are special and can do whatever they put their mind to.
My Project
The materials and supplies that I am requesting are going to have my adventurous explorers thinking and engaged as soon as they enter our room in the morning. The students will have multiple opportunities daily to create and reflect upon things around them (bridges, toys, slides, underground city, etc.) and things we are learning about (animals, habitats, seasons, etc.) by selecting a task, sketching their creation, making their creation and then reflecting upon their creation.
The resources that they will be using will promote engineering, creative thinking, collaborative, hands-on and reflective learning.
My students will be given choice and have many opportunities for socialization.
By implementing morning STEM tubs, my students will begin seeing themselves as scientists and engineers able to create anything they put their minds to.
