This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

We look for opportunities throughout the year to brighten someone else's day with something we've made ourselves. With Mother's Day coming up, I would like to work with our students to paint small pots and plant morning glory seeds for someone they love, whether it's a mom, grandmother, or another caretaker. This project will cover so many skills that we practice in 2nd and 3rd grade, while having fun and showing appreciation for someone else. Students will use their fine motor skills to plant the seeds and pain the pots. They will learn about plant life cycle, and the needs of a plant while planting the seeds and taking care of the seedlings. And, perhaps most importantly, they will show their appreciation for someone in their family as they gift these to them for Mother's Day.
