Morning time can be busy and often gets very monotonous for students who are starting their school day. This time is often filled with worksheets or computer activities, as well as unpacking, attendance, lunch choices, and other daily messages. However, this summer I am working to revise my morning routine and get students excited each school day by offering them choices with Morning Tubs.
Morning Tubs will allow students to explore, create, and communicate each morning, as well as give them a non-threatening way to begin their day.
These tubs will have choices such as art, games, skill practice with manipulatives, books, and many more fun ideas! The goal is to encourage collaboration among peers who will not feel pressured for the first few minutes of each day.
My Project
As a teacher, I am working to build a classroom that encourages students to learn beyond the textbook. My hope is to get materials such as pattern blocks, STEM kits, marble runs, and even classic games for use in my classroom to help ease my students into their morning routine. My goal is to have Morning Tubs that will allow students to explore, create, and communicate as well as give them a non-threatening way to begin their day.
Morning Tubs will allow students a chance within their day to investigate, create, discover, and take risks.
Morning Tubs will allow a portion of "play" that is not only fun but also an important part of the learning process. Through play, students will learn conflict resolution, respect, creativity, independence, and self-confidence.
