Morning Motor Skills!

My Students

My students have been diagnosed with mild intellectual disabilities. They all have ADHD, some have autism, and cerebral palsy. Most of my students spend some time in the general education setting so they can learn to socialize with their peers. I work with them on early reading and math skills. The progress made in a single school year is tremendous!

Most of my students come from a low income family.

The staff ensure students have proper shoes and coats, as well as snacks and books to take home. We care deeply about these students and the kids know and appreciate it. The students and families are grateful for our support.

My Project

The occupational therapist at my school recommended I incorporate more fine and gross motor activities for my special education students so they can gain handwriting skills!

Using the magnatiles, the light up blocks, and the sight word builder is an excellent and engaging way for my students to achieve more fine motor practice while also gaining science and engineering practice.

These tools will be used for our morning experiences. Mornings can be very hectic with students bringing in notes, teachers taking attendance and getting everything ready for the day. Having these centers set up and ready to explore will help students become excited about starting their school day and get their minds ready to learn!
