Help me give my students a Gears Super Building Set, a Magnet Lab Kit, a Marble Run and other critical thinking resources promoting growth in several academic areas: Science, Math, and Reading.
My students are caring, creative children eager to learn! They are excited to be called on and answer questions, and they have a tremendous desire to learn new things. These children are ready to build, create, and engage with their classmates.
Using these bins will allow my students an opportunity to develop social skills, while using their imaginations, making their own choices, and thinking outside the box.
Our school is in South Florida, and we have a very diverse group of students. Being a Title I school, we have been blessed to be a part of a pilot program with Mystery Science, an online Science website that brings the mysteries of Science to life for children. Many of the items in these bins are ones that they will see being used in experiments from this site.
Each of my students have shared about how excited he/she is to be in 1st grade! Everyone has talked of being both happy and nervous about the new things that they will learn this year! Imagine being able to begin each day like this, "playing with classmates!"
My Project
All students want to play. Using these materials, they will have that opportunity, while building necessary social, team building, and thinking outside the box skills. They will begin the day with their minds buzzing and already solving problems through a creative process. Even the clean up procedures will build important knowledge that is necessary for each child, taking care of their materials.
By donating to our project, you will not only help build critical thinking skills, but also help improve their focus throughout the day and allow daily opportunities for them to work with each other.
Students still need time to play, and these bins give them that chance. When it is time to begin classwork, they can turn their full attention to the lessons being taught.
