My Students

My class is made up of 4-6 years old students. Most of them have not ever been in a school setting before. We start each day on the carpet with Morning Meeting. This is where we introduce a word of the day (new vocabulary), discuss what we will do that day, as well as how everyone is doing.

We are a Title I school with about 80% of our students receiving free or reduced lunch.

We are responsible for providing the stability for our students. They come to school with the desire to learn, even though they don't have any prior exposure. It is very important to create that sense of community within the classroom.

My Project

For Morning Meeting we will use the easel to introduce our word of the day which helps build their vocabulary. For reading it will keep the books at an arms reach for me as well as students and also provide a place to display big books for interaction and our literature focus. In math it can be used to model and introduce new concepts. In addition to all of these uses, it would be used as a center for different activities. With the board being both dry erase and magnetic, the opportunities are endless.

This easel provides an extra learning area for all students.

It will not only help my own class but also the other Kindergarten students within our school because we switch classes at least twice a day for math and reading instruction.
