My Students
Hello! This is my first year teaching a kindergarten classroom! Last year, I taught a first grade classroom of 23 students and have found the desire to become a looping teacher this coming fall. A looping teacher has students for two years to see them through their Kindergarten and first grade education.
To best benefit my students, I am looking to purchase a rug for my classroom to practice what it looks like to be a community.
During our morning meetings, each student will find this rug to be a safe place to share their experiences, emotions and embrace the differences in our cultural environments.
My Project
In my classroom, I want to ensure my students have the best learning that meets their needs. With their backgrounds today, most students struggle with their mental health before they are ready to learn. To meet their mental health needs, I want to start each day bringing a sense of community to my students, so they feel heard, loved and empowered to pursue what their hearts desire. This is also a place where learning skills will be found. I find having a rug for our morning meetings can be a symbol of a safe place for them to come together for one another.
