Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Welcome to our third-grade classroom! We are a Title I school with students from a variety of diverse backgrounds. Seventy-four percent of the students in our school are English Language Learners, and eighty percent are considered economically disadvantaged. Despite challenges, our students are loving, outgoing learners that are committed to helping their community and others.
Part of our school mission statement is to "develop students who will make meaningful contributions to the world and become independent, lifelong learners." In our classroom, we are always reaching towards this goal.
This year, our objective is to create a classroom environment that will prepare our students to become lifelong learners.
My Project
Each morning my students come in a find a bin on their table of some sort of hands on activity. These activities are usually STEAM based and encourage students to be creative and work together.
I try each year to instill in my students that working together is one a life long skill they will use forever.
These morning bins are the perfect way for students to work and be creative with each other. Students have the opportunity to choose something different each day and work with a new classmates. The variety keeps them on their toes and always exploring something new!
