Mrs. F. from MS is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need exciting and engaging magazines to use to further their science and social studies skills while reading.

My students are curious, explorers, and full of questions and deep thinking. They enjoy the thrill of reading a new book and learning more about the historical background behind both fiction and nonfiction texts. Quite often we read passages that don't connect to their personal lives, but with novels they really soar! They are able to connect with the characters, think about their feelings, and problem solve as the inference throughout the chapters.
We receive Title I funds at our school because three out of four students are at an economic disadvantage.
This is a challenge in their personal lives, but school and especially reading gives them an escape into another world!
My students need a class set of Scholastic News magazines to use during homeroom time. The ability for each student to have their own copy of the magazine weekly will create excitement and a sense of ownership. This will also give students a new variety of activity to choose from during our morning homeroom time. The digital resources that come with Scholastic News will help me further their reading and writing skills during a part of the day that is normally down time.
The StoryWorks text set is another exciting new resource that I know my students will enjoy.
They will have the ability to learn about real-life disasters through 10 different reading genres to broaden their knowledge of social studies with a real-world connection.
