This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
This year I have a fantastic group of curious fifth grade students. Many have dreams of careers with technology but have no idea where to start. I want to inspire them to be more than just consumers of technology, but to also use it to solve problems.
Our school is serves around 300 students from 5 different communities.
We teach using an inquiry-based International Baccalaureate curriculum which inspires students to think globally by asking questions and search for solutions that leave a positive impact on our world.
My Project
My students need 4 OzoBot and 2 Dash and Dot programmable robots to teach computer programming and coding. This project will change the way my students see technology! We plan to learn how to write code and use these robots to see the code come to life! We have been using block based coding programs from the free website Code.org to learn the basics of computer programming.
I know it will inspire them to be more creative problem solvers and more critical thinkers.
It will increase their interest in science and technology and hopefully inspire some future engineers!
