More Than an Experience: Creating VR in the Classroom

Help me give my students a virtual reality camera to be able to take 360 view photos and video to turn into virtual reality experiences they can experience with VR headsets.

My Students

My students come from a variety of socio-economic, ethnic and religious backgrounds. This diversity allows the art classroom to think creatively about how we approach learning and the creation of artwork.

Students need a VR 360 camera to record photos and videos that can be turned into virtual reality.

My high school students work in a TAB (Teaching for Artistic Behaviors) setting which allows them to work in small groups exploring personal interests in art. Students still maintain high expectations while also demonstrating personal growth in their connection to art.

My Project

Students will use the virtual reality 360 camera to create and record VR experiences throughout our school. They can create a virtual tour of our school; record fine arts performances; sporting events; et. al.

Students have access to VR headsets and the addition of this camera will allow them the experience of creating VR instead of just experiencing it.

Creation is an important part of learning as it allows creativity to be introduced into the learning and gives students the hands on training needed to be future ready. Students will also be able to publish their VR creations onto the internet for the whole world to experience.
