Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work in an urban area for Oklahoma City Public Schools. The school is located in a lower income area. My students come from very supportive families who do all they can to ensure their children are learning. They have a great sense of community and family which enables them to have group discussions and work together.
My third graders are extremely driven and eager to learn.
They come from various backgrounds. Each student has her/his own personality; there is no one size fits all classroom. The students show their learning in various ways. I have students who love to read and some who love math, some who prefer to show what they know through writing, or art, or even drama. I would describe my classroom as diverse learners.
My Project
The use of technology should be present in every classroom every day. School districts are pushing towards online learning practices, but many districts cannot provide the technology. Every student should have basic educational tools, and technology is a basic educational tool for a 21st century learner.
The Chromebooks will help students explore new pathways to learning.
They will get the opportunity to learn and practice basic computer skills, have access to online libraries and podcasts, even engage in research. Please consider helping us to provide students with endless learning opportunities.
