Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach Spanish 1 and Spanish 2 to students from grade levels ranging from 9th grade all the way to 12th grade. My students come from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds and various socioeconomic backgrounds.
What makes my students so special to me is their eagerness and excitement to come to class.
My goal is to have my students feeling welcome and accepted in a classroom where they are allowed to make mistakes and learn and grow without judgment. I also emphasize that in my class, learning a new language can be easy, fun, and exciting.
My Project
I have always considered myself a very innovative teacher. I use a large portion of my spare time creating innovative lessons for my students that implement the newest and latest technologies; as well as, techniques. Book and paper is a thing of the past! In this everchanging world, we need to educate our students on digital citizenship and the responsible way to use technology. This Apple Tv will replace so many antiquated techniques that I still use in my lessons such a paper grade book and seating chart, document camera, and even my desktop computer. It will help me be more mobile around the classroom by allowing me to unanchor myself from my desktop computer and provide my lessons from anywhere in the classroom. A lack of funds has prevented us from innovating within the classroom.
Apple makes so many great applications for teachers, we just need the necessary funding and support to access these new technologies!
