Our school has a wonderful population of families and students who want to rise above and have the best start possible. Some have it easy and some struggle with basic needs, social/emotional situations. We want to give them all the same opportunities in school!
My kindergarteners are so excited about school and love to learn, but because of the crazy year we've had, many of them did not go to preschool because they were closed.
I need to support them best I can from the very beginning because many won't have experience of being in a school setting. With the help of donors and Donors Choose, we can build their first year in elementary school to be fun, enjoyable, and aligned with standards.
My Project
My students have a great need to get their hands in, on, and working with tools, crafts and PAINT! We just love paint.
These paint smocks will keep clothes from getting too much paint on students, textured paint brushes will allow us to explore the art of collage, after my favorite children's book illustrator, Eric Carle, and the paint pump and the easel will give them a vertical surface to work on.
Vertical surfaces have been shown by research to help children gain more hand-eye coordination, solidify learning, and let's face it-it is fun!
These materials will give my students more space, cleanliness, and opportunity to dive into play based learning that they have been craving during these last 2 crazy years of covid.
