My students love to use the math manipulatives. Right now the manipulatives are all mixed together and in different locations around the room. We need to get our manipulatives organized so that they are readily available to use.
I start each math unit with manipulatives because students learn best when they can manipulate pieces and see their answers visually in a concrete manner.
Recently we've used pattern blocks to make graphs. Students loved using the fraction strips to create equivalent fractions. Soon we'll be using our measuring tools to learn how to measure length, weight, and capacity.
