I work at a school that just came out of the Title I status. That means that the families of the students are improving financially, which is great, but it also means that many of them are still impoverished, yet we don't receive the extra funding we had previously received to help them.
Our motto in our class is that we work hard and play hard, and we try as often to do these two things together.
My students come to school every day excited to learn. They love to read and it is my number one priority to help foster this love of reading and learning.
My Project
We currently have six Chromebooks that are 2nd generation Chromebooks. That means they are about 6 years old. If you know anything about computers, then you know that is quite ancient. They are too slow to do many tasks that the students want and need to do. With these new Chromebooks, they will be able to fly around on the internet and run any website needed.
With their current Chromebooks, they are moving at a snail's pace compared to the rest of their peers.
That's not fair to them that they are getting less learning in simply based on where their name falls in the alphabet which is how I assign Chromebooks. With this new project, all students will be pretty up to date with what they need in a computer in the classroom. Their research will go at lightning speed, their final drafts of their writing, their presentations they create, the math they do on websites. Everything.
