This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am teacher at at city school where some of my students will be entering a classroom for the first time. My kids will be coming in bearing some burdens that are out of their control. So part of my goal as their teacher is to make my classroom a safe space where they can put some of those burdens down and pick up pieces that are encouraging, safe and help them be brighter little humans. My kids are coming with the best they have and I want to give them my best so they can take home something worth while. My room will be a safe, productive and self efficient. My students and families are being given supplies to help support them so to relieve the stress from being given a supply list our class would appreciate any donations to help support us. It takes a village!
My Project
The materials listed will help me space out my students on their now overcrowded carpet to help them better focus. The flexible seating will allow students to feel less restless and help my students with sensory issues. During reading centers they can easily grab paper and have more options for learning games to better engage them in phonics and letter recognition. My students love using the library and new editions will keep their love for early reading alive. Learning letters can seem repetitive sometimes and with stampers and fun, interactive games my students won’t even realize they are learning. Room 108 has grown in numbers and all my students love the opportunity to use the current wobble cushions and balls we have, but it would be nice to include all of my students at once.
