My Students

With a school population of 15% of students in temporary housing, 37% as English language learners, and 40% having disabilities, I am motivated to ensure the best possible experiences for every single of my students. As research shows, children need to be engaged and motivated to learn in school. In addition, students are known to thrive best when they are welcomed into an environment that supports their everyday needs instead of it being physical, social, emotional, or academic.

My Project

This reading space will help develop readers, those excited to read and those who may be in the shy area of reading. This space will give these students the opportunity to read in a more comfortable spot in the classroom and not just at their seats/desks. This space will give them the freedom to choose a book, read and enjoy the reading in a space that is fun to them. This space will also help with social distancing in the classroom, where the teacher may also be able to sit on one side and the student on the other and read together.
