My students need mentor texts and book boxes that easily allow them to shop for books.
The twenty-six students in my classroom next year are all very diverse in learning and in background. There are some who attend extended learning groups, some receive help from a reading interventionist, some have IEP's. These students attend school and live in a rural area.
These kids love coming to school!
At school, they have an opportunity to visit with friends, have access to breakfast and lunch, and see many smiles from their teachers. They cannot wait to tell the adults stories about their sports games or what they did the previous night.
The materials in this project will help kids learn specific reading skills. We are implementing a new reading curriculum, so we are needing mentor texts and organization for the extra books we will be keeping in our classroom.
Kids will be shopping for books!
Kids will learn what books are right for them and be able to "shop" for their books. Keeping the books in these book bins will make it easier for kids to pull a bin out, look quickly at what books are in them, and pick one out to read. Seeing book in clear bins will make the kids more excited about reading them!
