This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I endeavor to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
My students are creative, clever and very spontaneous.
They like to move, work with their hands and love lots of positive attention. My students come from low-social economic households with numerous risk factors. My students have the desire to graduate from high school and go on to college. Most of my students will be first-generation college students. They have dreams to become successful and productive citizens that want to bring change to our community. Many of my students are excited about attending college as well as looking forward to new beginnings. They live in one of the nation's toughest neighborhoods, and they approach the world with the hope to make it better. They are talented, full of energy, and willing to serve others.
My Project
We have changed our basic power tools to the Ryobi One Plus battery format. We want to bring all of our tools to the same platform. This will allow us to construct stronger structures on our robot in less time, assemble our cloth covered bumpers maintain a clean work area and keep the balls used as game pieces at the proper pressure for practice in preparation for competition.
Unifying all our power tools to one battery platform will save us space and money.
This will increase the effectiveness of our build time allowing more time for the students to focus on the programming and operation of the robot.
These tools will make these tasks much more efficient, and save us significant space for storage and power management for years to come.
