I spend my day with a group of kids learning to navigate life as they transition into young adults. My school is a Title I school and 100% of the students receive free breakfast and lunch daily.
These students face challenges and obstacles in their lives that I could never imagine, but they persevere daily!
Because they face so many obstacles outside of school I like to make my classroom as comfortable and inviting as possible for them to learn as relaxed as possible.
These students come to school ready to learn despite their challenges, because they know their education is something that no one can ever take from them.
My Project
Flexible seating makes our classroom relaxing and homely. The students love being able to sit in seats that are not the traditional desk and chair style of classroom seating. Different options give the students something to look forward when they walk into the classroom.
We have added several options since the beginning of the school year and every time we add a new seat the students beg for more.
It is so much fun to watch the kids get excited about somewhere to sit. Each week they get to pick a new seat based on their points, so they compete to have the most points to get the best seats.
