Mrs. Nesmith from Andrews SC is requesting art supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need drawing paper and essentials to create their beautiful works of art throughout the school.

My elementary art classroom is a place where students from all walks of life come together to create, explore, dream, imagine, share, and be themselves. I teach over 700 children in a school year. Many in which come from below the poverty line to low middle class socio economic backgrounds. My students long for love, support, and a caring environment that allows them to let their guard down and be expressive. Unfortunately, the burdens of life for so many of my students have taken away many of their childhood years and not allowed them to be children.
I believe every child wants to be a child and happily create.
They want to be able to love and feel that same love in return. When my students come to art class I believe in giving them just that. A place where they can be themselves. A place to be creative, expressive and imaginative. I want them to have access to basic supplies and skills that make it easy for them to experience the joys of childhood freedom without limitations. The dynamics of all my classes are so vastly different. Describing them in one word, I'd say "fun".
More paper for my students to create their masterpieces will mean more creative opportunities and self expression. Teaching over 700 students throughout the school year paper is one of the essentials the art room runs low on every year. Because of this issue my students are not able to create, draw, and paint as much as they would like to. My goal is to provide them with more expressive opportunities and paper is a huge factor.
Along with paper, other materials I would like to provide for my students to be creatively expressive are paint, markers, and crayons.
These are basic necessities for students to be successful in creating their projects. These are also materials we run relatively low on and not all my students are able to use them.
Again, my goals are to provide these materials and opportunities so that my students can be and feel successful.
