We have an amazingly diverse school, and we are so happy we do. We are a very low-income school, yet despite the struggles these kids face daily in the own lives, they have made this school and their classmates their own community.
Our school consists of amazing kids from many different cultures and backgrounds.
Although we are so different in so many ways, we do have some wonderful things in common. We love to learn about each others culture and celebrate it, and we are a school that loves to read! We have many English learners that work hard to become better readers and communicators. We are doing our very best to make our library the place where all can get together and read, or to relax and to escape from the realities of the outside world.
My Project
We have many students who love to get lost in books, especially in light-hearted books. These books are some of our favorites and they are always on hold because there are not enough of them to go around. It is sad to say, but they are also getting pretty worn out.
We would love to have a new set of these books to enjoy and get lost in.
We actually have a special place in our library that we would like to showcase our most beloved books. We can't wait to start adding some. We have a wonderful reading area with bean bag chairs for our kids to enjoy some quiet and peaceful time during lunch and breaks. They seem to gravitate towards comic books and short stories during this time.
