My students are awesome 2nd graders.

They love coming to our class to learn. They try their best in everything they do even when learning new curriculum gets too hard. I love it that they do not give up and keep trying to do their best to understand new material. I love seeing their smiling faces each day as much as I enjoy teaching them. I only wish I could offer them more. It is bliss to come to work each morning and be greeted by loving students.

My Project

I am a true believer that the best way for students to learn and grow is through reading...this is why I want to develop a love of reading in my 2nd grader students, so it will create a lifetime of reading and therefore a lifetime of learning.

This school year has been challenging ever since students returned back into the classroom. More than half of my students are behind grade level and struggle with our curriculum adopted reading books. Most importantly, their interest in reading our reading books is not there. I would like to increase my students' participation by offering them exciting, interesting, and fun books to read. I plan to have my students read together the National Geographic Readers Storms as a whole class so they can become familiar with all the different text features in a nonfiction book.

I am also requesting two Ordinary People Change the World book sets. I would like to read these books to my students so they can see that they just like the people in the books can change the world. This way, all students can see that it does not matter what ethnicity you are, anyone can make a difference!
