My students need more Orff instruments to outfit our TWO full-time music classrooms. For nearly 1000 students we currently have 6 Orff instruments shared between the two classrooms.

My Students

The Curley K-8 is a growing community of excited hands-on learners and teachers! With a student body of nearly 1000, the Curley arts department is large and growing. In fall of 2015 we were able to secure a full-time music teacher and the next year add another! For this coming fall, we will be adding yet another performing arts teacher and we could not be more excited.

Our students are as unique and diverse as any learning community and come to us from many neighborhoods of Boston.

We have a large population of students who are Spanish speaking and a robust program for students with Autism. All of our students come together to collaborate and learn as a team under our motto of "I Care, We Care, Curley Cares!" The students at the Curley truly embody this love and caring for one another and their school.

My Project

Our music program is growing and the students are the driving force! We are so excited to watch our music program continue to grow with instrumental and choral options for our students all the way from K to 8th grade. It is our hope that we can continue to build a music program that our students and community are proud of and take ownership of.

We are so fortunate to have incredible support from our families and community and hope that the Curley music program will continue to grow!

If this project is completed we will be able to have a set of Orff instruments in each classroom so that all grade levels can benefit from instrumental music instruction in the general music classroom.
