My Students

My 33 students at our school are a dedicated, caring, and passionate group of learners. I am blessed with a diverse group of children who come from all over the country and world. I have students from Florida, Australia, Pakistan, New Jersey, Vietnam, India, and China.

Our classroom is a remarkable mixture of cultures and languages that promotes authentic learning and an awareness of the diversity that exists in our world.

The student population in Pleasanton is rapidly changing, and our school is at the forefront of that shift. We are the school that welcomes students from other schools that are full, and we benefit from that diversity.

My Project

Research has proven that students who are allowed to move throughout the day are better able to attend to the business of learning. I am looking to update and add to my classroom options of flexible learning spaces. The wobble seats are particularly useful as they allow for movement without being a distraction to other students.

In our classroom we focus on group work and collaboration, so having moveable seating options is key.

Students will use the wobble seat and yoga balls to help focus their learning. When we give students the opportunity to move, they are able to better concentrate. Students will be able to choose where to sit and with whom they are most successful. The portable seating will support this.
