This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
More Math Please! My early finishers need more exciting, hands-on assignments.
I am a fifth grade math teacher at a K-5 Title One elementary school in Mississippi.
Due to the financial crisis that our state is facing, we have received several budget cuts. My students are excited about learning. I feel that it is my job as their teacher to make sure that they stay excited about learning, regardless of our setbacks.
My Project
I have students of all abilities in my class. Many of my students are able to complete the math lesson faster than others. It is my job to accommodate students by providing a wide variety of activities. I would like to provide my students with new, creative options to keep them engaged and challenged once they have finished with their work. I would like to have a variety of math games available for my early finishers. I believe that children will feel a sense of accomplishment when using the games because they can do the activities independently. I also believe that the math games will really improve my students’ understanding of basic skills, which will allow them to further advance in math. The games that we would like include Solve and Check Problem Solving Sliders, Spin and Solve Math Games, and Test Prep Rings.
By funding our project, you will make it possible for my students to receive extra practice on their math assignments.
Your help will ensure that my students go from good to great in their mathematical endeavors!
