Help me give my students more hands on experiences with an Area & Perimeter Kit, Geometric Shapes Kit, and Math Equivalency Puzzles to keep their love of Math alive!
My students are superstars! This year will be our second year together with all of us learning and growing. Last year they embraced being a team and worked to be positive. They are always growing as people and are learning to help their classmates in a marvelous ways!
Each of my kiddos is amazing in their own way and I love to encourage them to remain their own individual people.
They each have a different way they like to learn and they know how to speak up for themselves to try and gain understanding when they need it.
I love watching them embrace having a class that encourages them to just be themselves. Every student in my class adds a unique trait that makes our time learning together amazing!
My Project
As we move through 3rd grade the math gets exponentially harder than it has been in grades before. We learn new ways of looking at the numbers we already know, and we learn new shapes as well.
To be able to have hands on items, to more fully experience Mathematics and give a variety of experiences is the goal of this project.
Items such as Geoboards, will give my students crucial experiences with shapes and understanding their characteristics. Math Equivalency puzzles will help the class to see the numbers they already know in a new way and help them to relate their prior knowledge to the new equations; such as: division, fractions and decimals. Having a center such as Quiz Cards, helps them to practice current knowledge and have the pen tell them how they are doing!
Each item on my list will be used, in a rotation, on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Our classroom is set up in station rotations to do the bulk of our learning in Mathematics, so to have Regrouping Charts, Multiplication Cards and the other items asked for, will mean more meaningful time that they spend diving deeper into Mathematics.
My students have a love for Mathematics and I don't want the rigor of this year to put them off, I want to continue to encourage their love of Mathematics and these items will be a tremendous help in creating Mathematicians of them all!
