Help me give my students leveled guided reading books so they will become better readers!

I believe every child deserves the opportunity for an excellent education, and I am proud to partner with my school, other educators, families, and community leaders to strive toward this goal. I teach in a high poverty school zone in which 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. These amazing students need additional support because most of them come from low-income single family households of which many have little to no support or resources. Despite some of the challenges they face in and around their environment, every year my students come to school excited, full of life and eager to learn.
As a member of the AmeriCorps program, I set out to make our people safer, stronger and healthier; to strengthen our communities; and to get things done for America.
As a member of Metro Atlanta Teach for America, I have been positioned to significantly impact the life trajectories of students in our region’s high-need communities.
These books will add to my leveled classroom library where my students will have access to books on their own independent and instructional reading level. This will help them grow as life long learners and readers. These books will be used in the classroom library with the opportunity to take the books home to practice reading as well.
These books will help my students become successful readers by boosting their confidence in reading at their own individual level.
Not only will these books spark their interest in reading, but they will help them realize just how important it is to read each and every day. Please help build my classroom library!!
