My students are enthusiastic, kind, and thoughtful children with a love for learning and exploration. In class, my students use collaboration and creativity to access new ideas and content. At our school, which is arts-integrated, we use arts strategies to teach all content areas, allowing our students to express themselves and learn the material in a variety of ways.
In our class, we focus on kindness, teamwork, and our shared experiences to build community and ensure that our classroom is a safe place for every student.
Arts strategies are taught in many forms, such as drama, dance, music, and visual art, which enhance the curriculum that we cover in first grade. Our school is a supportive and creative environment for all students!
My Project
Independent work time is a crucial part of our day, where students can explore the content and practice skills that they have learned through instruction. Learning games and activities like Roll & Write word games, subtraction flip & solve boards, the Spin-a-Roo Sorting game, Bananagrams Spelling, and addition and subtraction bingo will make math and language arts time more exciting and fun! Once students have finished their assigned work, they will be able to select an activity or game, and play them with classmates.
Through these activities, students will be collaborating in their learning while reinforcing important skills in both language arts and math.
Students will be able to choose which games or activities they would like to use, as well as work together with their classmates, which increases buy-in and motivates them to finish their assigned classwork. These activities will be a great addition to our classroom!
