Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A typical day in my classroom is loud, energetic, and fast-paced. I teach three band courses, one piano course, and a senior seminar course for students. My students work extremely hard to come together and develop their musical skills, both as soloists and as part of an ensemble.
My school is situated in the middle of a struggling community.
Our population is largely Hispanic, and many of our students are English Language Learners. The students at my school view many of our school organizations as a second family and support system.
My Project
Our school is home to an Academy of Arts - a school within a school. Academy students study a variety of disciplines including band, dance, drama, guitar, piano, visual art, and vocal music. These students are some of the most creative and hardworking individuals in the entire school. As the Academy grows, so do our many needs for each discipline and the students learning them. We have already benefited greatly from the Cricut maker and supplies we requested last semester, and my students are eager to try more projects with it.
Our students stand out as the best in the school, and we'd like them to be able to use their creativity to help them stand out even more.
This assortment of Cricut vinyl, mini heat press, and other Cricut accessories will allow our students the chance to create even more unique and creative ways to personalize their shirts, bags, and more. Additionally, we can use this as a fundraising tool by personalizing things with the school logos.
